Lately, my head has been incredibly noisy.
I’ve described it to friends and family like this: it’s as if there’s a constant film playing in my mind. While I’m talking, listening, or trying to focus, my brain’s running a movie – full subtitles, sound blasted up to 11. Then another film starts in the background. And another. And another...

The noise is relentless. It drowns out my thoughts, smothers my feelings, and saps my energy before I’ve even had a chance to start the day.
One film plays flashbacks – memories, brief moments I can’t quite hold onto for more than a second.
Another shows me my current day in real-time, but I’m only a viewer, not really in it.
Then there’s one that scrolls through my to-do list like a teleprompter on fast-forward.
And somewhere in the static, there’s a blurry projection of future me – unclear, glitching, the sound fuzzy and distant.
There’s more – but you get the gist. There’s been a lot going on.
What’s different now is this: I’ve started to notice it.
For a long time, work was everything. My default mode was on – early starts, late nights, always doing. Not because I wanted to be busy, but because there was always too much to do. The list never ended. Up at six, working through to nine, just trying to keep up. No wonder I burnt out.
The noise was always there. I just didn’t have the time or space to see it – let alone sit with it.
Now, though, things have shifted. I’ve got room to breathe. To observe the noise instead of being consumed by it. And maybe, just maybe, I can start to unpick it. Unpack it. Organise it. Make a bit of sense of it all.
It’s not about silencing the noise completely. It’s about learning how to listen to it, and finding a way to live alongside it.
I’ve got time now. That’s the difference.
